PROJECT: Cannabis Retail Store
LOCATION: SE, Calgary, Alberta
TYPE: Commercial Interior Renovation
AREA: AREA: 71.21 m²
STATUS: Finished
This project involves the renovation of an existing commercial unit into a modern, compliance-driven cannabis retail store designed to balance security, functionality, and customer experience. The design approach focuses on creating a clear operational layout that meets regulatory requirements while delivering a refined and welcoming retail environment.
The interior planning is organized around a controlled customer journey, beginning with a strategically positioned check-in and verification area, followed by a comfortable waiting zone that manages customer flow efficiently. The retail display and sales area is designed with open visibility and logical circulation, allowing for effective product showcasing and smooth point-of-sale operations.
Staff-only and secure zones are carefully separated from public areas to ensure operational efficiency and compliance. These include a dedicated high-security cannabis storage room, a private administrative office, and a back-of-house circulation system that allows staff movement without disrupting the customer experience.
Architecturally, the design adopts a clean, modern aesthetic with durable finishes, controlled lighting, and a professional material palette. The result is a retail space that seamlessly integrates safety, compliance, and brand identity—supporting both customer engagement and day-to-day operational needs.
